Traditional Marketing

Why does traditional marketing require spending before results are clear?

  • Airtime, print space, billboard locations, event booths, and mail distribution are usually paid for before the business sees calls, visits, coupon use, enquiries, or sales response. This puts money into the campaign before the business knows how strongly people will react.
  • Media slots are often booked for a set programme, issue, date, or placement period before customer response is visible.
  • For printed materials, design, printing, postage, and delivery costs come before anyone uses the coupon or contacts the business.
  • With billboards and outdoor signs, the business pays for the location and display time even if many people pass without responding.
  • At events, booth fees, banners, staff time, and handouts are arranged before visitors decide whether to engage with the brand.
  • Response usually appears later through calls, visits, coupon redemptions, enquiries, or sales changes, so weak performance is harder to spot quickly.
