How does traditional marketing limit performance tracking?

Offline campaigns often rely on ratings, circulation, footfall, calls, coupon redemptions, enquiries, or sales lift instead of exact clicks, user paths, and conversions.
The business can see signs of response, but it may not see every step between the ad and the final sale.
For television and radio, audience ratings show estimated reach rather than the exact people who heard the message and later bought.
In newspapers and magazines, circulation numbers show how many copies were distributed, not how many readers noticed the ad.
Store visits and phone calls can show interest, but they do not always prove which billboard, flyer, radio spot, or print ad caused the response.
Coupon redemptions and enquiry forms improve tracking when they are used, but they only measure people who follow that specific response path.
The tracking gap becomes wider when customers see the ad offline and later search online, visit the store, or buy after several days.
